Social phobia is defined as the fear of embarrassment or humiliation of oneself in a public situation. For the victim, this fear is much stronger than the normal anxiety experienced by a phobia is not a public or social situation. It is usually so severe that it completely avoids social situations as much as possible, or endured with great anxiety level in a situation that is inevitable. Usually the patient is afraid to say or do something to make others as weak, anxious or even crazy. This concern is usually out of proportion to the situation they are in.
Fear of public speaking is the number one social phobia, and in fact the most common of all phobias. It affects all types of people that have students talking in class managers to make business presentations and actors / performers. This phobia is also present in men and women, and affects much of the world population.

Fear of eating in a public place
Fear of co-workers look at you
Fear of embarrassment / shame
You will not be diagnosed with social phobia if your avoidance technique is causing you great distress and interfere with work or family life. If your phobia is less accurate and it is feared many situations, but is able to support them with some trepidation that you be classified as generalized social phobia.

Social phobia can begin early in the life of shy children likely to develop social phobia, and transportation to adulthood. In some patients there is a tendency for the smooth disorder later in life that others continue to suffer throughout their lives.
The methods used to treat social phobia include:

Assertiveness training - the ability to say no when necessary
Drugs - the most common SSRIs or benzodiazepines, sometimes MAO inhibiters
